Wistron NeWeb Corporation Introduces 2nd Generation HD Radioâ„¢ OEM
Hong Kong Electronics Fair - October 8, 2008 – Wistron NeWeb Corporation (WNC), a leading Taiwanese consumer electronics company, today announced that it has developed a next generation OEM automotive grade HD Radio™ module. Based on the recently introduced NXP SAF3560 multi-standard integrated circuit, WNC’s new IBOC Digital Module (IDM), UMA-H3, has been designed to specifically meet the automotive industry’s reliability and performance standards. The advantageous IDM design provides radio manufacturers the flexibility to easily integrate HD Radio technology into various automotive radio applications and reduces the overall radio development and manufacturing costs related to HD Radio integration. Developmental samples of the UMA-H3 are available this fourth quarter and mass production is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2009.
The UMA-H3 module communicates with NXP Digital Signal Processors (SAA7724, SAF7730 and SAF7780) through a standard I2C serial interface and supports NXP Dice Turners (TEF6700, TEF6721, TEF6730).
“With the addition of the IDM module to our automotive product line-up, we continue forward on a path of developing and manufacturing highly reliable products that can easily be integrated into all types of automotive infotainment systems,” said Fayu Chen, Vice President of Automotive and Digital Media Business Unit within Wistron NeWeb Corporation. “We provide our customers real value by delivering on price, quality and design flexibility.”
The WNC modules provide crystal clear digital AM and FM audio with multicasting capability in addition to supporting analog AM and FM audio. The analog and digital signal seamlessly transitions through automatic blending, providing listeners with an uninterrupted audio experience. The module also supports new HD Radio features including iTunes® Tagging for HD Radio technology, Store & Replay, Real Time Traffic, Electronic Program Guide (EPG), Conditional Access and Surround Sound.
